(582 BC - 496 BC) Pythagoras was a Greek philosopher and a mathematician. He is most widely known for the Pythagorean theorem, but he has made other contributions to mathematics as well. He is also known for having a great number of scientific followers known as 'Pythagoreans' that believed everything in the world could be explained with numbers - they lived in secrecy and kept their mathematical knowledge guarded. |
