Alfred Russel Wallace

(January 8, 1823 - November 7, 1913) Wallace was a British biologist, anthropologist, geographer, and naturalist. He is unofficially known as the "father of biogeography." Wallace proposed a theory of evolution which inspired Charles Darwin to release his own theory. Although Wallace and Darwin released their theory and the evidence to back this theory up at the same time Darwin is credited with proposing the the theory since he had more evidence. Wallace is credited with being the first person to discover a "geography" of animals. |
